Submitted by Rochelle on Mon, 17/01/2011 - 23:05

If you're feeling like doing something a little challenging this year, how about unicycling through South-Western China?

Ken Looi is organising the Yunnan Unicycle Tour (aka Yunnanuni), in the mountains near Tibet. Participants will be riding from the Tibetan town of Shangri-La, through a few mountain passes and finishing at the Tiger Leaping Gorge above the Yangzi River. It's going to be pretty mountainous but with lots of amazing scenery.

If you're interested, check out the Yunnanuni website.

Dates: 8-19 August 2011

Included: support vehicles, local guide, tour leader, most meals, spare bicycles

Group Size: maximum 20

Days Unicycling: 7

Cost: US$1900

Distance: approx 410km

Difficulty: depends if you like hills!

Unicycling Conditions : sealed roads all the way but all at altitudes from 1900m to 4200m - you need to be prepared for mostly uphill or downhill riding and a lack of oxygen.

For those of you who missed Ken Looi's Mongolia Unicycle Tour last year, check out the photos and videos of that tour!

UNICON - Hockey and Basketball teams

Submitted by Rochelle on Sun, 01/11/2009 - 19:00

If you want to participate in hockey or basketball at UNICON in Wellington, you need to indicate this on your registration and put down the NAME of your TEAM.  The team name you put down needs to be the same as the one other team members are putting on their forms!  You cannot add a team after 14th November, and if you don't put down a team name you will be put in a scratch team.

Please contact Ashley Curtis or the AUS to find out the team names if you want to be included in one of the 'official' AUS hockey or basketball teams.

Submitted by Rochelle on Sun, 16/08/2009 - 23:13

Fifteen year old, Samuel Farmer, from Scotland has just ridden from Lands End to John O’Groats on a unicycle - he is the youngest to do so. He did it in just 12.5 days.  Sam broke a Guinness World Record and raised money for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton Hospital, Hampshire and The Peanut Ward at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
