Unicycling and Unicycle Hockey at Spring Cycle

Sydney Unicycle Hockey are playing some demonstration games at Spring Cycle this Sunday 27th September, at Olympic Park in Sydney.

All unicyclists are welcome to come along and join in! Bring a red and a black T-shirt if you can (and your unicycle, and gloves!)

We'll be playing from 11.00-11.40am and 1.20-2.00pm at the 'Grand Challenge Medal Area' on Olympic Boulevard, near the Novotel.

Also, at least two Sydney unicycle riders will be taking part in the Spring Cycle ride itself - the main route is 40km, from North Sydney to Homebush, so go out and cheer them on if you can!

Unicycling demonstrations for NRMA CareFlight fundraiser

The fourth annual NRMA Community CareFlight Day was held on Sunday 13 October 2009 in Tahmoor in NSW.  Jaryd Harris, Uninats 2009 Junior Champion, entertained the crowd with his unicycling skills in  demonstrations held throughout the day.   The event raised funds for the NRMA CareFlight, which operates all over NSW and assists at many tragic accidents on a daily basis. It is not restricted to rural areas and has helped save thousands of lives.  For more information about Jaryd's activities, check out his website

Jaryd's making headlines

Jaryd Harris, who took out the Uninats 2009 Junior Champion award, has made headlines in the South West Rocks newspaper (see 28 July 2009).

Interpretation: A social ride is planned for Friday. We’ll meet at the Keiraview Accomodation (where you will be staying) at 4.30pm for a 4.45pm ride. The ride will take us past Smith’s Hill High School (where hockey, freestyle, workshops and trials will be held and is only a minutes ride away), past the grassy patch at North Beach where folk will be meeting up for Full Moon Drumming, Dancing and Fire Twirling at 7pm that night (see above article for details).

You will dine on Wollongong’s coastline, harbour and Flagstaff Hill before retiring to the Five Islands Brewery (a micro brewery) for dinner and drinks.

Upon completion, make your way back to that grassy patch at North Beach for Full Moon Drumming and Fire Twirling.

You might want to bring a torch...

Goodbye and good luck to Reubin and Dylan, off to join the circus!

The Sydney Unicycle Hockey players want to wish Reubin and Dylan all the very best for their move to Albury to join the famous Flying Fruit Fly circus. Reubin and Dylan have been a great asset to Sydney Unicycle Hockey, not only lowering the average age of the team by about twenty years but also playing a fierce game of hockey. But alas for Sydney, the boys have been spotted by talent scouts and are off to join the circus. We hope they have lots of fun and find some time to keep their unis spinning....

Uninats FAQ

Here are answers to some common Uninats questions:

  • Will there be anything for me to do as a beginner/new rider if I come to Uninats?

Although Uninats is called a competition, it is intended to also be a festival and celebration of unicycling. Any rider, of any age or ability, is welcome to take part. There will be plenty of non-competitive activities, such as workshops and games, and there are separate age and gender categories for riders in the competitive events. You are guaranteed to learn a lot and be inspired!

  • Do I have to register in advance or can I register when I get there?

It's cheaper if you register in advance on the AUS website, but if you can't manage that, you can still register when you get to the event.

  • Do I have to be an AUS member? How do I join?

Yes, you must be a current AUS member to take part in Uninats. This ensures you are covered by our public liability insurance. You can join by filling out the form on this website (under membership) and posting it in or bringing it with you to Uninats, or you can fill out the form and join when you get to Uninats. AUS membership fees are separate from and in additon to Uninats entrance fee.

  • Can I just come and watch? Do I have to pay if I just want to go in a few events?

Anyone can come and be a spectator or non-rider at Uninats. If you want to ride a unicycle at any time, you must register, pay, and be a current AUS member. You could pay for just one day if you are unsure if you want to take part (although this will be more expensive).
