The Uninats 2012 Movie Party

The Uninats Unicycle Party will be held on Saturday night at the Collingwood Gym (after all the daytime events).

Entry is free for all registered participants, and there will be music, lots of unicycle games and dinner whilst we watch the Video competition.

We will be collecting pizza from a nearby pizza shop - place your order before 3pm at the registration desk. You are also welcome to bring your own food & soft drink instead.

The theme for the party is 'Movies' - you can interpret this however you like, and come as a movie star, special effects monster or even the director! As long as you can still play red-rover, sumo, dodge ball and gladiators!

The Good Brew Company will be bringing their own locally made organic soft drink selection, on an unusual cycle.

Video Competition - 2012 UniNats

After last year’s successful video competition the AUS is proud to announce we will be holding another competition for the 2012 edition of UniNats. The videos can cover any aspect of unicycling. We will hold a movie night at the UniNats where the videos will be judged by the audience.

The video should be no more than five minutes long and in Standard Definition format. High Definition format may not work with our equipment. To enter simply bring your movie to the competition and notify the organisers of your intention to enter.

UniNats 2012 Poster Competition Results

Thank you to all the people who entered the competition. Congratulations to Tiffany for her winning design.  For her efforts Tiffany has won free entry to the 2012 UniNats being held in Melbourne, 9th - 12th March.

Please feel free to post it up on your school, business, community notice boards or even a local bike shop.  The more people who know about the event the better.

Unicycling across the country for charity

Several months ago, the AUS posted a story about David and Smanna who were unicycling across the country for charity - no mean feat - especially unsupported. Well, they made it! Seventy-eight days (and many sore muscles later!) after they set out from Darwin, they reached Glenelg in South Australia, raising money for the Little Heroes Foundation. You can read more about their trip and check out some great photos at Cycle Sports News.

Results of Revesby (Sydney) unicycle weekend

Revesby recently hosted its Unicycle Hockey and Unicycle Basketball Championship. The weekend was a great success with 35 riders from NSW, the ACT and a couple from Victoria competing. Activities included a city night ride on the Friday, with basketball on Saturday and hockey held on Sunday.

There was added incentive this year, as the champions would be the first to have their team’s name engraved on the perpetual trophies.

Five teams competed in the basketball: Revesby Blue; Revesby White; Canberra; Sydney Red; and Sydney White. A lot of competitors were new to basketball but most games were very close, with Revesby Blue taking out the title undefeated, beating Revesby White for second and Sydney White for third place.

The most anticipated event was definitely the hockey, with a fierce rivalry between the three super powers of Canberra, Sydney and Revesby. Five teams competed for the title: Canberra fielded an A & a B team, with Sydney putting up Red and Black teams, and a full strength Revesby team.

The play off for third was awesome between Canberra and Sydney Red, with Canberra winning in golden point extra time 3:2. The hockey championship was taken out by Revesby who proved too strong on their home ground. They left their best performance for the final against Sydney Black, taking out the title with a score of 11:2.

It was great to see everyone enjoying the competition and thanks to all the competitors and family/friends who all helped make this a successful weekend.

Also a big thanks to Mal & Australia who sponsored the perpetual trophies. These will remain in the hands of Revesby until the next competition, probably Melbourne Uninats in 2012.

Unicycle Hockey and Basketball Weekend Update

Only two weeks to go to the Unicycle Basketball and Hockey weekend at Revesby!

On the 16th and 17th of April, Ashley Curtis from the Revesby unicycle club is hosting the 2011 edition of this popular weekend unicycling event. All riders are welcome - if you don't have a team, you'll be found one to join!

A social ride is being planned for Friday evening (15th) around Sydney city, from about 6pm - if you are interested, contact Ashley on 0414 321 150 or abcurtis_au [at] yahoo [dot] com [dot] au for final details.

A reminder of the event details:

  • When: 16 & 17 April 2011
  • Where: Revesby YMCA, 184 The River Rd, Revesby NSW

  • Unicycle Basketball on Saturday, 16th - 11am - 3pm Unicycle Hockey on Sunday, 17th - 9am - 2 pm

Remember you will need non-marking tyres and plastic pedals to ride, as this is an indoor hall. You will also need to be a current AUS member - if you registered for Uninats 2010 your membership is still current, otherwise you can renew or take out a temporary membership on the day.

Adelaide or bust!

Hats off to two intrepid unicyclists on a huge tour from Darwin to Adelaide, self supported. They are raising money for charity - the Little Heroes foundation.

You can follow the journey and donate if you wish:

Australian Records

The International Unicycling Federation (IUF) define the standard rules for competitions. The AUS follow these rules for UniNats, wherever possible.

The AUS keeps a list of the records held by Australians (citizens and permanent residents) in IUF-style events, both in Australia and around the world.

We update these results for AUS Uninats records and do our best to update them for records set at Unicon, but we can't always know about every Australian in every official event, so please let us know if you think a record is out of date. Contact Us with details of any updates and include a link to independent evidence (e.g. the website with event results).

Records:  As of 8th October 2016.

Uninats 2010 FAQ

Here are answers to some common Uninats questions:

  • Will there be anything for me to do as a beginner/new rider if I come to Uninats?

Although Uninats is called a competition, it is intended to also be a festival and celebration of unicycling. Any rider, of any age or ability, is welcome to take part. There will be plenty of non-competitive activities, such as workshops and games, and there are separate age and gender categories for riders in the competitive events. You are guaranteed to learn a lot and be inspired!

  • Do I have to register in advance or can I register when I get there?

It's cheaper if you register in advance on the AUS website, but if you can't manage that, you can still register when you get to the event.

  • Do I have to be an AUS member? How do I join?

Yes, you must be a current AUS member to take part in Uninats. This ensures you are covered by our public liability insurance. You can join by filling out the form on this website (under membership) and posting it in or bringing it with you to Uninats, or you can fill out the form and join when you get to Uninats. AUS membership fees are separate from and in additon to Uninats entrance fee.

  • Can I just come and watch? Do I have to pay if I just want to go in a few events?

Anyone can come and be a spectator or non-rider at Uninats. If you want to ride a unicycle at any time, you must register, pay, and be a current AUS member. You could pay for just one day if you are unsure if you want to take part (although this will be more expensive).
