Ride Update
A personal message from Sam:
The countdown has officially begun! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is just around the corner! I can't find the words to tell you how great it feels to know that together we ARE making a difference in the fight against cancer! You may or may not of heard, I had a nasty crash on my unicycle while training last week...I have had the week off training and my scabs are healing! however my right heel is still really bruised and i'm unable to put weight on it without pain! :-S I'm still planning to do the ride however! So your help would be even more appreciated to help me get over the line.I have until October 27 to exceed my goal and I need your help getting there. Will you please sponsor me now?Visit my personal page and please donate!
Also be sure to visit my Wife Michelle's page and donate her some money too, I will struggle to complete the ride without her support and therefore she needs yours also :-)
The Ride is only a couple weeks away! I'm grateful for everyone's support.Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Samuel
Sam Thomas is putting his legs to the test to raise money for Cancer research and you can help too. Sam is undertaking the Ride to Conquer Cancer® benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on his unicycle! Sam has committed to ride over 200 kilometres in two days throughout Victoria's scenic countryside, and to raise at least $2,500 in order to take part. Not to mention all of this on ONE wheel with NO gears!
"The training was hard to start, but I'm up to 55 kilometre rides on the weekends", says Sam. "Now that the event is getting closer and closer, I want to ramp up my training and fundraising. I have to be able to ride over 100 kilometres in one day."
Sam has already started the fundraising and is aiming to raise $3,200 by the event weekend - which is the 27 & 28 October 2012. And everyone can support Sam (even if you already have) by sending out requests to all of your friends, family and coworkers. As Sam says, "Think about it, 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That's huge and we need to do something about it".
If you're thinking about making a donation, make it as soon as you can. The money is used by Peter Mac as soon as it's raised, not after the event happens. Click here to visit Sam's personal web page for the event.
