AUS Membership Renewals Special Offer
Sign up or renew your AUS membership now and save 20%!
AUS membership runs from 1st July to 30th June each year. If you haven't attended an AUS or affiliate event since 1st July, you probably haven't renewed your AUS membership yet for 2006/2007.
Membership renewal is still only $20 for the whole year, which is a 20% discount on the new members price, but this discounted price is normally only available for renewals completed within 3 months of the end of the previous membership (i.e. for renewals before 30th September).
The AUS has extended the offer of membership at the renewal price to anyone who has previously been an AUS member (in any year) until the end of October 2006.
Hurry to take advantage of this special price - only one week left! Details on membership renewals, pricing and the application form are on the AUS website
The AUS is a non-profit organisation - membership fees go towards the public liability insurance which allows us to support official events, and also to help support the Uninats (Sydney 2007!), which could cost several thousand dollars in up-front booking fees!

Brisbane Unicycle Weekend
Pictures of the recent Brisbane Unicycle Weekend are now available at unicycles.com.au.
Thanks to Gary Land for his time and cash spent organising the event and providing the prizes - $1750.00 worth of Unicycles , helmets, pedals & basket balls were up for grabs by the 24 lucky participants! Thanks also to the volunteers who helped Gary run the event. Reports are that everyone had a great time.
AUS insurance also helped make this event possible!
Freestyling at Floriade
ACTURS performed a show at the Floriade flower show in the ACT on Sun 24th September. It was a bad day weather wise and this kept the crowds at bay but ACTURS took the opportunity to use the time-slot and all of the audio equipment to give some of their newer members a chance to polish up their freestyle work. Owen Carr and Tom Lambert who participated in the freestyle at the Darwin UniNats were also able to strut their stuff.
Active Lunchbox
Lyneham Primary School played host to unicycling workshops in September this year. David Buchanan, Cathy Watson and Rod Lambert, along with young Abbey and Sam Watson ran three consecutive unicycling workshops as part of an "active lunchbox" program.
Lots of the kids were able to have a sit on a unicycle and try it out for the first time. One of the most gratifying outcomes was that two previously unknown level 1-2 unicyclists emerged out of the school group along with another two of their friends from the Lyneham High School. Consequently ACTURS have another four participants at their regular Wednesday evening training sessions and potentially, a few more registrants for UniNats next year.
Extreme unicycling in the UK
Six unicyclists have just attempted the UK's National Three Peaks Challenge on unicycles (6th / 7th October 2006). If you're not familiar with this event it consists of reaching the summit of the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scaffell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in 24 hours. As far as we are aware this has never been attempted on unicycles before!
Five out of the six unicycle riders completed the challenge with only 15 minutes to spare to make the 24 hour deadline. The 6th rider (Gary) had to walk down the last mountain. He is having trouble walking but is otherwise ok.
The conditions for the ride were brutal. There were no major injuries to any participants though apart from massive wear and tear on their bodies!
See more details about the charity ride in the unicyclist.com forums and at unicycle.uk.com.

The only emails that will be posted to this group are concerning unicycle related activities, so you do not have to worry about getting inundated with unwanted emails.
